The Street Diner began its journey back in 2016 with a focus on enthusiasm and culinary excellence. Jon Labella, affectionately known as 'Chef', boasts an impressive resume, having honed his skills in top-tier restaurants and aboard luxurious super yachts in the Mediterranean. On the cusp of sealing a deal for his own restaurant in Newcastle, Jon had an epiphany. Why limit himself to a stationary location when he could create a dining experience that could travel anywhere?

This pivotal moment marked the inception of The Street Diner. Jon's vision was clear: to transport his gourmet cooking beyond the confines of traditional restaurants, directly to people, wherever they might be. Starting with a modest barbecue stand at Cadwell Park in 2016, The Street Diner embarked on its mission to redefine street food.

As we look back on those early days through photographs we've managed to get our hands on, it's evident that Jon's culinary journey began long before The Street Diner, with his love of cooking he inherited from his Granddad.
