My wife really can not cook. She tries but really she is better at assembling things, opening cans, or pushing the button on the microwave....like my mother-in-law. Anyway, she thawed out a baking hen and was very excited to try and cook it on her own. She likes to watch Nigella Bits on the food network and wanted to try out the recipe. I left her alone and headed off to work....but I should have known better!
She didn't catch the stove on fire,this time, she's done that before. But, the plump hen that I saw before I left for work, was no longer. She tried and it did have good flavor but the poor thing was cooked at too high of a heat for way too long! The skin was so rubbery you couldn't cut it with your teeth and barely could with a knife. My first thought was the turkey on the movie Christmas Vacation!
